I have one. On the Honda it uses 3 inputs:
1) Knock sensor. The system comes with its own knock sensor, but there's a possibility that it may be reworked to tap into the OE sensor when available.
2) TPS sensor. This way it is only active when the throttle is applied. Otherwise it may interpret mechanical noise (such as piston slap) as knock during deceleration.
3) The ignition trigger. This serves several functions:
- Tells the J&S unit when cylinders are firing so it can associate knock with the cylinders in which it occurs.
- Tells the J&S unit the engine RPM.
- Is the signal which the J&S unit intercepts to control the timing as needed.

Oh...ok thanks for your input rjaffey!
Some questions though:
1) Where and how much did you buy it?
2) What's your timing set at now and how boost are you running?
3) Do you have the monitor, if so, how much does it retard at what particular rpms?
4) Do you get to hear knock at all before the J&S steps in?
Whewww...that's it for now...Thanks.

I think I can answer this for rafe.
1) They are around 500 dollars, but he will have to recommend a vendor.
2) 16 degrees I believe.
3) Ocasionally retards and only in the mid range.
4) Never. The J&S picks in up before it's audible to the human ear.

The idea of a group buy was mentioned earlier. How about it?
I can't seem to find many places that carry it though. Most of the places that sell them are Miata places so I don't know how they would react to a group buy from a bunch of Honda guys. The prices that I've seen on these sites it anywhere from $429.95 to $440.00. This price is just for the J&S knock sensor and DOES NOT include the monitor/dual monitor. Maybe we can get a deal going where the monitor would be thrown in for free.

I am thinking about getting one, and when I go 8 psi I will most likely run one. My next purchase will be springs and shocks though.

Count me in! If there is going to be one.

I'll ask around to get the best price. If I get one started it'll most likely be done and over with before Thanksgiving. I leave for training for my new job on the 27th.
